Main duties of the job:
- Lead and oversee the Outpatients Department, including Diagnostics, Preoperative Assessment, and Minor Procedures, ensuring high quality and efficient service delivery.
- Review clinic capacity and utilisation to enhance consultant accessibility and support effective scheduling.
- Collaborate with consultants to optimise clinic templates and maximise use of available space and resources.
- Manage outpatient equipment to ensure all assets remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
- Identify and drive service improvement opportunities, contributing to capital planning and investment proposals where appropriate.
- Improve patient flow and reduce waiting times, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all patients.
- Use performance data and insight to inform service development, enhance efficiency and support strategic decision making.
- Lead, support and develop the Outpatients team, fostering a positive, high-performing and collaborative working environment.
- Ensure delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care in line with clinical standards, governance requirements and organisational values.
- Provide strong clinical leadership, maintaining accountability for clinical quality, operational performance and regulatory compliance.

With 3 Ultra Clean Air operating theatres and a Minor Procedures Unit, we are proud of the wide range of surgical services and treatments available. The hospital has 41 private en-suite bedrooms split over 2 wards and 11 consulting rooms within our Outpatients Department. Our areas of specialty include orthopedics and spinal surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology and diagnostic imaging. Our most recent CQC inspection was undertaken in Jan 2024 and we were enormously proud to be rated overall as Good, with Outstanding for Well Led.
Job responsibilities:
As our Outpatients Manager, you'll be a clinically registered professional with post-registration experience in Outpatients or a similar acute setting. You'll bring strong leadership capability, ideally gained in a Team Leader or equivalent role, and the confidence to guide, support and develop a high-performing clinical team. You will provide strong clinical leadership to the department, assuming overall accountability for clinical effectiveness and operational management. You'll ensure care is patient-centred, evidence-based, innovative and delivered by a trained, motivated and compassionate team. As part of the senior clinical leadership team, you'll also contribute to local strategy and champion clinical standards across the hospital.
