We are seeking an experienced Lead Radiographer responsible for the operational management of part of the diagnostic imaging department. The role involves ensuring high-quality imaging services and potentially leading a specialty area such as MRI, CT, or mammography, while supporting the Radiology Manager. The ideal candidate will have specialist knowledge, previous people management experience, and strong communication and IT skills to help us build a healthier nation as a Lead Radiographer at our hospital.

The Radiology department is busy and growing, covering general radiography, theatre, ultrasound, mammography, and MRI. You will undertake a wide range of duties, including managing daily operations and participating in clinical work.

Requirements include a BSc degree in diagnostic radiography (or equivalent), postgraduate qualification, HCPC registration, and knowledge of IRMER and IRR. Ability to undertake audits is essential. Radiation Protection Supervisor training/qualification is desirable. The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS disclosure.

As our Lead Radiographer, you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership within a highly specialized area.

  • Participate in departmental QA, audits, and mandatory training.

  • Develop policies and procedures as a clinical lead.

  • Deputize and support the Radiology Manager.

  • Supervise and develop staff, including mentoring students and trainees.

  • Collaborate with practitioners and other hospital departments.

  • Approach each patient with understanding and empathy.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills.
