The Role
Our Theatre department has 4 theatres which facilitate Major Ortho Hip/Knee spinal fusions, Major Gynae both laparoscopic and open, Urology including laser HOLEPs, ENT including surgical procedures with two Professors, Plastic surgery including a world renowned DIEP surgeon, General Surgery, Ophthalmic and Maxillofacial.
Our hospital consists of:
- 42 inpatient and day case bedrooms
- 25 consultation rooms
- Four operating theatres
- Endoscopy
- Full diagnostic imaging suite including MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography and general X-ray
We expect you to actively contribute to service development, policies and strategies, and identify opportunities. You will support individuals and teams to deliver high quality, clinically effective patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Along the way, you will build strong relationships with consultants, hospital senior leaders, a wide range of healthcare professionals and, of course, patients. Working collaboratively alongside the consultants, ensuring patients benefit from the best possible treatment and care.
Registered with a relevant governing body, your specialist training includes a nursing/practitioner qualification and/or postgraduate courses. You have also got impressive senior level experience in a theatre setting. You will be accountable for leading, motivating and supervising a multidisciplinary team within theatres. A professional management qualification would also be an advantage, as you’ll need to be equipped for business planning and development, audits and clinical governance, infection prevention, health and safety, and risk analysis.
To succeed as a Clinical Leader you will have:
- A wide range of nursing skills and knowledge, including care of patients pre and post operatively, following a wide range of surgical procedures. For example, Cardiac, Colorectal, Orthopaedic, Day-care, Plastics, ENT, Gynea, Urology and more
- Excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic, forward thinking approach
- As much confidence working independently, as you do as part of a team
- Excellent leadership and ward management skills – including a commitment to role modelling good practice and developing staff members
