We are looking for a dynamic, self-starter with strong leadership qualities to lead a growing team that plays an integral role within the patient journey.

The medical records department plays a crucial role within the Hospital, creating and maintaining all patient records and ensuring they are available to all departments throughout the patient's journey at the Hospital. As our Senior Medical Records Administrator & Information Governance Lead, you will aid in the day-to-day management of the department ensuring that high standards are maintained. Continued growth and development of the team will be paramount to your success.

The role will require you to manage the day-to-day running of the department, which will include but is not limited to:

  • Managing team rota, ensuring cover is arranged for all gaps in the rotas and personally covering any unfilled shifts.
  • Lead, motivate and supervise the team.
  • Implement training to ensure staff have required skills to perform competently and maintain the high standards expected of them.
  • Carry out process improvement exercises to highlight key areas of improvement.
  • Undertake regular team meetings and 1:1 performance reviews.
  • Effectively manage the quality and flow of data coming into the department, in line with GDPR regulations.

You will be required to liaise with all stakeholders of the Hospital, such as members of the Clinical teams, Leadership teams, and also Consultants and their Medical Secretaries. Act as the hospital's Information Governance Lead, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation, internal policies, and secure handling of patient information. Manage and respond to Subject Access Requests within statutory timeframes, ensuring the highest levels of accuracy and confidentiality end to end.

Essential:

  • Experience in leading a team of 5+ members.
  • Medical Records experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess strong leadership qualities.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, with the ability to make an impact with immediate effect.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Previous process mapping/improvement experience.
  • Change implementation experience.
  • Able to develop key relationships within the organisation.
  • Knowledge of GDPR and IG principles, experience of applying them in a healthcare setting.

Desirable:

  • Previous Healthcare experience.
  • Experience of working in a similar, patient/customer note handling role.
