About Nudge Education Online

Nudge Education Online (NEO) is a fully online alternative provision for learners aged 11 to 18, launching in September 2026 under Nudge Education Ltd. It is built for young people who have been unable to access mainstream education β€” learners experiencing EBSNA, SEMH difficulties, the effects of adverse experiences, or whose neurodivergent profiles have never been properly met.

NEO offers full-time placements, short-term and transitional placements, and catch-up tuition. The first intakes in September 2026 are a Year 9 and a Year 10 cohort. Teaching is delivered by Qualified Educators and routes towards Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs, with Practitioner-Mentors alongside each learner as their consistent point of contact. Pedagogy rests on the six Cornerstones β€” Connection, Movement, Creativity, Reflection, Rest and Nutrition. NEO is pursuing OEAS accreditation.

NEO operates as its own region within Nudge Education β€” every function the wider business runs, run again in the cloud, without the geographic constraints of in-person provision.

Why this role exists

An online school only works if young people can actually get in and stay in. A strong timetable and a well-designed curriculum fall apart if a learner can't find their login on day one, doesn't know who to message when their camera won't turn on, or can't face clicking a link because the platform has let them down.

The Engagement & Operations Coordinator closes that gap. The role holds the technical and operational spine of NEO: the platforms, the onboarding, the help desk, the day-to-day data, and the practical coordination that keeps families, Practitioner-Mentors and Qualified Educators working from the same picture. It is a demanding, hands-on role β€” in a provision being built from scratch, this is the person who makes the machinery run.

What the role does

Platform and technology operations

  • Own the day-to-day running of NEO's platforms β€” Google Workspace, Google Classroom and Google Meet β€” including accounts, access, settings and accessibility options.
  • Set up and maintain learner and staff accounts, class spaces and schedules so that lessons run without friction.
  • Test, configure and improve the platform setup β€” including a thorough shake-down over the summer so it is ready for learners rather than being squeezed in at launch.
  • Be the in-house problem-solver when something technical breaks, and the person who keeps it from breaking again.

Help desk and first-line support

  • Run the help desk for learners and families β€” logins, devices, cameras and microphones, access needs β€” as the calm, reliable first point of contact for anything technical.
  • Maintain a short, plain-English support guide for families, kept up to date as the platforms evolve.

Parent and carer contact

  • Be the reliable everyday point of contact for families on the practical things β€” platform and access issues, timetable and appointment queries β€” so families never have to work out who to ask.
  • Keep messages to families joined up with the Practitioner-Mentors, who hold the relational and pastoral relationship, so the family hears one consistent voice.
  • Communicate warmly and in plain English, with particular care for families who have had very difficult experiences of the education system.

Onboarding and first-day-ready

  • Lead learner and family onboarding for every new starter: school email, Classroom access, Meet comfort, camera and microphone set-up, accessibility options and first-week confidence.
  • Run the β€œfirst-day-ready” checks before every intake β€” accounts, devices, access β€” and flag any blockers to the SENCo, the DSL or the Director of NEO.

Engagement, attendance and data

  • Track engagement signals across the week β€” logins, session participation, assignment submission β€” and keep the operational picture of each learner current.
  • Surface emerging patterns to the relevant Practitioner-Mentor and, where relevant, to the DSL, so concerns are seen early.
  • Support attendance follow-up alongside the Practitioner-Mentor β€” care, not enforcement.

Internal co-ordination

  • Keep Heads of Department, the Flexible Educator pool, Practitioner-Mentors and the SENCo working from a joined-up picture of each learner.
  • Attend the weekly NEO leadership standing item on learner engagement.
  • Bring the operational and technical lens to continuous improvement, suggesting changes to the Director of NEO based on what is actually happening for learners and families.

Boundaries of the role

The credibility of this role depends on being clear about what it is not.

  • This is not a teaching role. The postholder does not deliver curriculum content. All live teaching is delivered by Qualified, subject-specialist Educators.
  • This is not a Practitioner-Mentor role. The Practitioner-Mentor remains each learner's named relational and pastoral point of contact; this role handles the practical, technical and operational side of family contact.
  • A separate Parent/Carer Liaison Officer post is planned for the future, focused on parent support and workshops. The technical support and everyday family help desk remain with this role at launch and beyond.
  • This role does not hold Designated Safeguarding Lead or deputy DSL responsibility. NEO's safeguarding is led by a Designated Safeguarding Lead with online-safeguarding training. Like every member of staff, the postholder reports any safeguarding concern to the DSL immediately and in full, and does not attempt to resolve concerns independently.
  • This role does not hold line-management of other staff.

Status and terms

This is offered as a 12-month secondment. NEO is a new and as-yet unproven provision, and the role itself is new: this is an opportunity to help establish and prove it, alongside the business taking its own risk on the venture.

The secondee's current salary is maintained for the duration of the secondment, with no uplift on appointment; the standard September pay award applies as it does across the team. Existing terms, probation arrangements and return rights to the substantive role are preserved. Whether the role extends, becomes permanent, or the secondee returns to their substantive role will be reviewed before the end of the secondment. As NEO grows, the role is expected to grow with it, and progression will be considered on that basis.

A start date will be agreed in August/ September 2026 by agreement, with induction planned ahead of the Septembr 2026 launch.

The role will be fully remote, UK Based, with occasional in-person team days.
