Looking to take your gas engineering career off the tools and into a quality-focused auditing role? Our client, a leading provider of auditing and compliance services within the social housing sector, is looking for skilled gas engineers to cover the Oldbury and West Bromwich areas (B65, B69 & B70). This is an excellent opportunity for qualified gas professionals who want to utilise their technical expertise in a less physically demanding role while still maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.

The Opportunity:

  • Position: Gas Auditor (Subcontractor)
  • Location: Birmingham (B65, B69 & B70)
  • Working Pattern: 3 or 5 days per week
  • Payment Terms: Paid 1 week in arrears

Key Responsibilities

You'll be carrying out post-completion quality audits within social housing properties, assessing the standard and accuracy of work completed across:

  • Gas servicing
  • Boiler installations
  • Repairs and breakdowns

Auditors will be responsible for reviewing Landlord Gas Safety Records (LGSRs) and ensuring completed works accurately reflect the condition of the installation and work undertaken by contractors.

Typical Audit Activities

Service Audits

  • Verify engineer identification and Gas Safe credentials were shown to the tenant
  • Assess customer service standards and professionalism
  • Confirm a copy of the LGSR was provided
  • Carry out gas rate and flue gas analysis checks to verify recorded readings
  • Conduct visual inspections of PRV terminations, condensate pipework and room thermostats

Installation Audits

  • Complete all service audit checks
  • Inspect radiators and TRVs where installed
  • Check pipework quality and clipping standards
  • Undertake tightness testing where required

Repair & Breakdown Audits

  • Validate that reported repair works have been completed correctly
  • Verify replacement components have been fitted as recorded

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • Full ACS qualifications including:
    • CCN1
    • CENWAT (CEN1 & WAT1)
    • HTR1
    • CKR1
    • CPA1

Experience & Knowledge

  • Previous experience working within social housing
  • Strong background in servicing, repairs and installations
  • Detailed knowledge of domestic gas appliances and central heating systems
  • Thorough understanding of Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998 and relevant industry standards

Additional Requirements

  • Clean DBS
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Own vehicle (car or van) capable of transporting auditing equipment, including a ladder
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
