We are looking for a skilled and reliable Carpenter (Fabric Technician) to join our Facilities Management team at the renowned Twycross Zoo. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced carpenter or building fabric professional who enjoys a varied role, combining planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and small project works within a unique and engaging environment. You'll play a key role in maintaining the site's buildings and infrastructure, helping to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for visitors, staff, and wildlife. The Role As a Carpenter (Fabric Technician), you will deliver a high-quality maintenance service across the site, carrying out a range of carpentry and building fabric tasks. Working independently and as part of a wider FM team, you'll be responsible for planned maintenance activities, responding to reactive repairs, and supporting small improvement projects. Key Responsibilities Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) * Carry out scheduled carpentry and building fabric maintenance tasks. * Conduct routine compliance and condition inspections, including: * Fire door inspections * Fence condition checks * Plant room visual inspections * Water pump visual checks * Weekly fire alarm testing * Roof and gutter cleaning using SkyVac equipment (training provided where required) Reactive Maintenance * Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner. * Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently. * Carry out: * Door and frame repairs * Lock replacements * Fencing repairs * Minor joinery works * General building fabric maintenance Small Works & Projects * Support the delivery of minor refurbishment and improvement works. * Undertake: * Fencing installations * Timber structure repairs * Property improvements * General small project works across the site What We're Looking For Essential * NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry (or equivalent). * Minimum of 3 years' experience within carpentry, building maintenance, or facilities maintenance. * Full UK driving licence. * Strong craftsmanship and attention to detail. * Experience working independently and within a team environment. * Comfortable using PDA/mobile devices to manage work orders and job updates. * A proactive approach to problem-solving and delivering excellent customer service
