Software Developer in Edinburgh

We're looking for a back-end software developer to join our growing technology team. We’d love to hear from developers with the desire and ability to work across a broad range of disciplines within product delivery, with a primary focus on backend software development.

Responsibilities

• Working collaboratively alongside other developers and analysts using agile software development methodologies.
• Building back-end Java applications for an industry leading wrap platform.
• AWS: Serverless, SQS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFormation, CDK.
• Data integration with 3rd party providers.
• Continuous Integration.
• Assessing the impact and benefits of introducing new technologies, APIs and methodologies.
• Take responsibility in everything you do to deliver good outcomes for our customers.
• Positively demonstrate the Nucleus values and behaviours.
• Ensure compliance with Code of Conduct at all times.

Skill Requirements

• A solid foundation of Java knowledge or another object-oriented programming language.
• Building backend applications as part of a cross-functional team.
• Appreciate clean code, good software design and best practices in software engineering.
• AWS or similar cloud-based services.
• Relational databases and SQL.
• Docker.
• GraphQL.
• Version Control (such as Git).
• Unit testing.
• Agile methodologies.

Your friends would probably describe you as the ‘curious’ one. You’ll be happiest when tinkering with new technologies and finding better ways to deliver phenomenal code. You will enjoy working as part of a multi-functional team, while taking ownership of the work you do to deliver the best solutions.
