About the role
We're looking for a Scientific Director to co-lead a large global publications and medical affairs team in breast cancer. It is an exciting and fast-paced team with high-impact publications and projects. Existing experience in publications, medical affairs, and pull through of strategy across deliverables is ideal. Additionally, overseeing junior writers is an important part of the role - we have a passion for developing people and we hope you do too! Oncology experience is an advantage, but motivation for the role is more important. This is a great opportunity to take the next step in account leadership, building relationships with a broad number of clients, and working within a large, supportive, fun team.
Here's what you'll do:
- As a Scientific Director, you will be responsible for accurate and high-quality scientific content across your workstream.
- You will be a senior scientific member of a well-established team and will partner with the scientific and CS leads to streamline processes, mentor and review work, enable high quality delivery and grow the business.
- You will develop your own content across diverse publications and medical affairs deliverables, and oversee, support and motivate a global team of medical writers to do the same.
- You will develop strong client and author relationships that enable you to make great, strategy-driven suggestions.
- You will lead client and author calls and scientific meetings.
- You will have a growth mindset and work with the agency leadership on account growth and innovating our client offerings.
- The role offers opportunities to be a partner and trusted advisor to the client, with travel for client meetings and events.
- The Scientific Director will report to the Senior Scientific Director and will line manage members of the junior medical writing team.
About you:
- A number of years' experience working in a medical writing role, including publications and/or medical affairs, within a medical communications agency environment.
- Experience writing across a broad range of deliverables and formats for a variety of medical audiences.
- Experience reviewing and overseeing other writers, ideally including line management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues, clients and external experts.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work to deadlines and juggle multiple projects.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in quality control.
Don't meet every job requirement? That's okay! Our company is dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. If you're excited about this role, but your experience doesn't perfectly fit every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right person for this role or others.
