About the role

The Tester in Dunstan Thomas plays a hands-on role in executing software tests to ensure DT products and services meet defined requirements, function correctly, and comply with regulatory and operational standards. Operating primarily at SFIA level 3, the Tester contributes to functional, process, and user acceptance testing under the guidance of senior QA professionals. They are responsible for identifying defects, validating fixes, and maintaining quality documentation throughout the software lifecycle. This role is ideal for individuals who combine strong attention to detail with a willingness to learn, collaborate, and uphold quality in a fast-moving, regulated fintech environment.

Typical Job Responsibilities

  • Test Preparation & Execution: Prepare and execute functional test cases according to defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Identify, log, and retest software defects, ensuring they are reproducible and clearly documented.
  • Participate in regression, integration, and user acceptance testing for DT applications and platforms.
  • Quality Assurance Support: Apply established QA standards, checklists, and procedures throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to quality reviews, test readiness assessments, and retrospectives.
  • Provide feedback to improve test coverage, documentation, and process consistency.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with developers, business analysts, and product owners to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Support user acceptance testing by coordinating with business users and helping to validate test outcomes.
  • Communicate clearly about test progress, issues, and risks to the Test Lead or Senior Tester.
  • Tools & Methods: Use approved testing tools for test management, defect tracking, and documentation (e.g., DevOps and Jira).
  • Apply manual or basic automated testing techniques as directed.
  • Contribute to maintaining test environments and test data sets.
  • Process Testing: Execute process and workflow-based test cases to ensure system functionality aligns with business operations.
  • Verify data integrity and transaction flows typical in fintech applications (e.g., payments, reconciliations, onboarding).
