Following recent changes within Nucleus’ finance leadership, the Head of Strategic Finance is building a small team to strengthen the organisation’s financial control and commercial insight capability. This team will play a key role in helping the business make better decisions, informing and challenging plans and opportunities, preparing the business for future activity and supporting investor reporting. Key current deliverables include ensuring clarity and accuracy across financial data from historic transactions, reviewing the read across to current data and plan, and producing models to aid planning and better inform performance. The team are also Finance point contact to investors and partner the business strategy team.

Purpose of the Role

These roles will focus on interpreting and reconciling financial data from multiple sources, producing clear, accurate insights that underpin decision-making. Working within a small, hands-on environment, successful candidates will help to establish structure and control across historical financial records, supporting both operational and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Retrieve, reconcile and analyse historical and current financial data across various business areas (revenue, costs, balance sheet and cashflows).
  • Investigate incomplete or inconsistent data records, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Support the Head of Strategic in collating and preparing internal data for business use in formats which can also be used for due diligence M&A activity.
  • Develop datasets to support future FP&A workstreams and commercial analysis.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure clarity around performance metrics and investor reporting.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a new strategic finance team structure.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant with experience in financial control within financial services.
  • Strong analytical ability and a methodical approach to data reconciliation and investigation.
  • Comfortable working with large, complex datasets in Excel (other data tools experience beneficial but not essential).
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate financial insights clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Adaptable, hands-on, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, changeable environment.
  • Team-oriented, with an interest in helping to shape new processes and reporting structures.

Reporting & Structure

Initially working alongside one senior financial control contractor. Potential future expansion into FP&A, partnering and Strategic Finance functions as the team evolves.
