The Head of Entity and Regulatory Reporting is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial and regulatory reporting for entities within the Group, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, regulatory submissions and entity management accounting information. This role will play a key part in maintaining strong financial controls and driving process improvements. The Leader will add insight and value to the business through supporting strategic decision-making.

Leading 3 specialist reporting teams, this role is responsible for ensuring Nucleus’ approach to entity reporting underpins the delivery of consistent, high-quality, and timely entity level reporting. Key accountabilities include:

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Lead and progress the production of Management accounting information and work with the Commercial finance teams to add insight to the business.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all regulatory returns to FCA and PRA and other relevant authorities.
  • Horizon scanning and reviewing any new developments in regulatory reporting for Solvency UK, MiFID and IPRU-INV.
  • Preparation of Board level entity reporting as required.
  • Deputising for Group Financial Controller as required.
  • Ensure consistent application of accounting policies, procedures, and controls are implemented for entities within the Group, working with the Head of Accounting Policy and Advisory.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting obligations under relevant regulations and governance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the regulatory reporting and capital teams to ensure accurate reporting of financial and capital-related disclosures.
  • Drive improvements in financial reporting processes, automation, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Main contact for the external audit for the legal entities.
  • Point of escalation for teams in terms of accounting and regulatory issues.
  • Design, implement and maintain internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Design and develop processes and controls to deliver good customer outcomes.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing reporting team, providing mentorship and career development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and excellence within the finance function.
  • Support the Group Financial Controller in developing financial governance frameworks and ensuring effective risk management including responsibility for RCSA’s and finance risk register input.
  • Strategic development, regulatory or remediation projects.
  • Other Committees and Working Groups as required.
  • Supporting good customer outcomes through maintenance of financial accounting and reporting control.
  • Ensuring reliable complete financial information is captured for all components of the Group.
  • Meeting internal and external audit standards, remediating shortfalls if and when they arise.

  • Significant experience and proven track record leading a finance organisation or large finance team in the financial services sector.
  • Extensive regulatory reporting experience including MIFID, Solvency 2 and IPRU-INV.
  • Appropriate technical accounting and reporting qualifications gained in a professional services firm or in a series of relevant industry roles.
  • Proven leadership skills acquired in roles building and developing specialist functional teams with broad and technical components.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills including ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Well developed collaborative working practices.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex matters to a range of audiences including senior executives, board members and shareholders.
  • Deep knowledge of core finance systems and General Ledger systems and structures including reporting tools and applications.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, inspire team to contribute fully to the wider leadership of the Finance Function and the wider Nucleus Group.
  • Ability to think outside of the box, capable of understanding wider business impacts.
  • Can operate at a senior level and provide vision and direction to team whilst understanding the detail.
  • A flexible approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Relevant qualifications: Chartered Accountant or Certified Accountant with continuous professional development record demonstrating learning ability and commitment to professional standards.
