We’re looking for a Software Tester to join our small, agile test team on a 12 month FTC. In this role, you’ll be working collaboratively across the wider team to understand the scope of change, the associated risks and how this impacts test coverage. You’ll be responsible for translating business rules and operations into test cases. You will actively seek out new ways to do things and constantly be looking to improve the way we work. Your own learning will be a key motivator for you, and will be able to shape this role based on your own knowledge, experience, and tenacity. You will have a passion for exploring new technologies and utilise your findings to create value in the test space.
You’ll spend your time:
- Understanding the scope of change on projects or platforms, assessing associated risks, and determining their impact on test coverage.
- Translating business rules and operations into comprehensive test cases.
- Utilizing exploratory testing methods to identify potential issues and enhance the overall testing process.
- Executing test cases with precision, utilizing both manual expertise and innovative automated tools where applicable.
- Meticulously identifying, documenting, and retesting software defects, collaborating seamlessly with developers to implement and verify fixes while ensuring stakeholders are kept informed of progress and results.
- Helping the Test Lead in assisting, documenting the testing progress and ensuring the fulfilment of test exit criteria.
- Actively seeking new methodologies to enhance testing processes and continuously improve team workflows.
A bit about you:
Your friends would probably describe you as ‘the curious one’. You’ll be the person always trying to find the answer to complex problems and brain teasers. You’ll be happiest when tinkering with new technologies and finding better ways to deliver phenomenal code. You’ll be someone who challenges the status quo and who loves to improve the ways in which you and the team work.
We’ve always placed more importance on culture contribution above technical ability, but in this role we’d really like you to have/be able to:
- Demonstrate experience in testing web clients and back-office applications.
- A background in test analysis, preparation, and execution, particularly in financial services.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills to convey technical information effectively.
- Proficiency in designing, executing, and maintaining test cases.
- Familiarity with exploratory testing methodologies.
- The ability to work independently on projects, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.
- Experience in platform or project model office testing, or any user testing, would be beneficial.
- Familiarity with the Wrap platform, particularly Sonata, is advantageous.
A little about us:
We’re the Nucleus Financial Platforms group and we help make retirement more rewarding. Our culture is one of the many things that sets us apart from the pack. We want to have an environment where our people feel that they can make a real difference, know they’ll be rewarded for their efforts and more importantly, enjoy themselves at work.

Inclusion and diversity at Nucleus:
As with most things in life, who cares, wins. We really care about inclusion. For us it’s not a tick box exercise; inclusion and diversity are embedded in our culture and everything we do. More diversity means broader experience, a wider set of perspectives and a better collective ability to problem-solve. And it means being more representative of customer groups, which supports areas such as product development.
At Nucleus, we offer a generous blend of benefits for the things that really matter to our people, including a non-contributory pension, bonus, enhanced parental leave, paid time off for emergencies, health and wellbeing initiatives and flexible working options.
