The role

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will take the lead on systems engineering activities that are critical to delivering complex vehicle systems across their full lifecycle. It is an exciting opportunity to shape system architectures, solve engineering challenges, and contribute to projects aligned with national security and defence. Your work will directly support the successful delivery of cutting-edge equipment that helps protect people and infrastructure. It is a role that offers challenge, growth and the chance to develop your expertise across multiple engineering domains.

Day to day you will be required to:

  • Develop system architectures and interface definitions to support integration across mechanical, electrical, software and supportability domains
  • Define system requirements and generate product breakdown structures
  • Plan and execute verification and validation activities including test planning and acceptance criteria
  • Conduct trade studies and system level analyses to support key design decisions
  • Identify and manage technical risks and issues using structured problem solving approaches

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and can be delivered from various locations including Bristol, Plymouth and Walsall alongside home working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer:

  • Good level of systems engineering experience
  • Experience of leading systems engineering activities
  • Excellent knowledge of systems architecture
  • Background in automotive and or defence industry advantageous

Qualifications for the Senior Systems Engineer:

  • HNC or HND or Degree in a relevant engineering subject
  • Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
