This is a hands‑on supervisory role where you’ll lead daily transport operations, coordinating drivers, vehicles, and tasking to meet demanding operational requirements while ensuring full compliance with MOD policy, road transport legislation, and company procedures.

The role involves day‑to‑day responsibility for planning, supervising, and controlling transport activity across rotating day and night shifts. Working closely with the Transport Controller and operational stakeholders, you’ll ensure resources are deployed effectively and safely in support of customer requirements.

Day‑to‑day, you will:

  • Supervise daily transport operations, including driver allocation, vehicle tasking, and duty rosters
  • Ensure compliance with road transport law, MOD regulations, and service publications
  • Monitor driver hours, licences, competencies, and documentation prior to tasking
  • Manage vehicle issues, faults, and breakdowns in line with policy and reporting requirements
  • Prioritise and respond to short‑notice operational transport demands

This is a full‑time, permanent role, operating on a 12‑hour rotating shift pattern (days and nights), averaging 38.5 hours per week.

Essential experience:

  • A confident supervisor with experience in transport or fleet operations
  • Strong understanding of compliance, safety, and regulated working environments
  • Ability to plan ahead while reacting calmly to changing operational priorities
  • Clear communicator able to lead and support drivers and stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Additional driving categories (C and/or D), DCPC, or ADR are desirable but not essential

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.

What we offer:

  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Matched contribution pension scheme, with life assurance
  • Access to a Digital GP, annual health check, and nutritional consultations through Aviva DigiCare+
  • Employee shopping savings portal
  • Payment of Professional Fees
  • Reservists in the armed forces receive 10‑days special paid leave
  • Holiday Trading is a benefit that allows UK Babcock employees to buy additional leave or to sell up to one working week of annual leave from their annual entitlement
  • ‘Be Kind Day’ enables employees to take one working day's paid leave a year (or equivalent hours) to undertake volunteering work with their chosen organisation or registered charity

We are a disability confident committed employer. If you have a disability or need any reasonable adjustments during the application and selection stages, please email careers@babcockinternational.com with the subject header ‘Reasonable adjustments requirement’.
