If you join us, you can play your part as a Lifting Engineer at Hinkley Point C, near Bridgwater, Somerset. This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance works across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.
The role involves taking ownership of the planning and delivery of complex lifting operations within one of the UK’s most significant nuclear construction projects. This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week and based at our Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset site.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Produce detailed lift plans, procedures and coordination studies for complex operations
- Select appropriate lifting methods, cranes and equipment to meet safety and project requirements
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards, legislation and site‑specific procedures
- Brief lifting teams and supervisors to ensure full understanding of plans and safe systems of work
- Identify hazards, resolve constraints and support safe, integrated delivery across site activities
Essential experience includes:
- Holding significant experience producing lift plans within major construction or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrating strong knowledge of lifting operations, rigging and crane planning
- Applying a thorough understanding of health, safety and compliance standards in high‑risk environments
- Communicating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and site stakeholders
- Coordinating activities and prioritising workload within complex project environments
Qualifications include:
- CPCS Appointed Person (A61) Blue Card
- NVQ Level 3 in steel erecting or moving loads
Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
