You’ll be part of our Mission Systems team helping to operate and support secure satellite communications that the UK’s Armed Forces rely on, work that underpins national security and delivers real‑world impact.
The Role
The Satellite Communications Engineer is an integral part of the escalation team for the Satellite Communications Network, where you will be required to complete both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as part of a team providing solutions to complex engineering problems.
Day-to-day, you’ll:
- Complete routine and scheduled maintenance in line with work orders, maintenance schedules, and support documentation.
- Drive reactive maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Report, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system alarms and anomalies.
- Produce comprehensive fault reports and accurately record all maintenance activities.
- Work closely with stakeholders and operational support teams to ensure the delivery of satellite and communication services.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on-site at Colerne, with opportunity for flexible working.
Essential experience of the Satellite Communications Engineer
- A technical background (electronics, engineering, networking, or similar)
- Experience fixing and maintaining communications or network equipment
- Strong organisational and workload‑prioritisation skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
- Understanding and experience of maintaining high‑power RF (Radio Frequency) transmission and antenna systems.
- Comfortable with cables, antennas, and technical fault‑finding.
Qualifications for the Satellite Communications Engineer
- NVQ Level 3 or above in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or relevant equivalent experience).
- Full UK driving licence.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Must be Sole UK national.
