The role involves supporting the development and assurance of facilities used to maintain the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet. Working within the User Acceptance Group, you’ll ensure that facility designs, safety cases and operational processes meet the needs of end users and comply with strict regulatory and engineering standards.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your specialist knowledge of submarine maintenance and nuclear facility operations to major infrastructure programmes. Your expertise will directly influence future capability, support critical defence projects while strengthening your career within a highly specialist engineering environment.

  • Supporting the delivery of User Acceptance Group activities to ensure facility designs meet operational requirements
  • Advising on submarine maintenance and facility design to support engineering, safety and project teams
  • Reviewing design documentation and participating in design reviews to ensure compliance with user needs
  • Contributing to the development and management of functional requirements for new and existing facilities
  • Providing specialist input into submarine upkeep, operations, and future infrastructure developments

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of 2 days in the office/onsite.

Essential experience of the Submarine Repair Specialist:

  • Extensive experience in nuclear submarine operations, maintenance, or nuclear facility environments
  • Strong understanding of submarine upkeep activities and engineering processes
  • Experience contributing to facility design, commissioning, or infrastructure projects
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and provide expert advice to engineering stakeholders
  • Experience working within highly regulated or safety‑critical environments

Qualifications for the Submarine Repair Specialist:

  • Engineering degree (desirable)
  • Chartered Engineer status (desirable)
  • Equivalent qualifications or experience will be considered where relevant expertise is demonstrated

Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
