The role:

As a Health Physicist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring nuclear and radiological safety across key projects at Rosyth. Working at the heart of our Marine business, you’ll provide expert advice that shapes safe design, operations and emergency preparedness for nuclear‑related activities.

Day-to-day you’ll be required to:

  • Providing expert advice on radiation protection and nuclear safety to projects and operational teams
  • Assessing hazards and consequences, including REPPIR scenarios, related to nuclear designs and operations
  • Defining and embedding radiological safeguards such as shielding, ventilation and containment systems
  • Supporting compliance with IRR17, REPPIR and Nuclear Site Licence or Authorisation Conditions
  • Engaging with stakeholders, including regulators and internal teams, to influence safe outcomes

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.

Essential experience:

  • Experience in a similar health physics or radiation protection role, or demonstrable transferable skills
  • Strong analytical capability with attention to detail
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence at all levels
  • Confidence delivering complex or challenging messages professionally

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant science or technical discipline
  • Accredited Radiation Protection Advisor status is desirable
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject is desirable

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
