The role:

As an Engineering Manager – Defence, you’ll lead and inspire a highly skilled engineering team, providing technical authority, direction and assurance across complex, safety‑critical programmes. This is a senior leadership role where your decisions shape engineering outcomes, protect product integrity and uphold the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities:

  • Leading the technical delivery of engineering scope, ensuring work is robust, safe and compliant with all standards
  • Managing and developing multidisciplinary engineering teams, setting direction and enabling high performance
  • Owning design and maintenance baselines, change control and engineering governance
  • Assuring product quality, safety and regulatory compliance across all engineering activities
  • Controlling engineering costs, risks and technical outcomes in line with programme objectives

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience:

  • Operating as a senior professional engineer with proven engineering management experience
  • Working within highly regulated environments requiring safety justification
  • Making sound technical decisions and providing authoritative engineering leadership
  • Leading teams delivering complex engineering solutions
  • Applying structured engineering delivery and assurance processes

Qualifications:

  • Engineering or science degree
  • Professional membership with chartered status

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
