Position: Senior Architect Subways – Plymouth, Devon (Hybrid work) Full time, permanent, 35 hours per week with a minimum of 3 days onsite.
Role Overview
Shape critical infrastructure within one of the UK’s most complex defence programmes. Work at the Devonport Royal Dockyard site to lead architectural design delivery for major infrastructure upgrades supporting submarine sustainment programmes. Provide technical leadership across complex facilities within a highly regulated environment, ensuring solutions are safe, compliant and aligned with project objectives.
Responsibilities
- Leading architectural input across infrastructure upgrade projects, ensuring technical quality and compliance
- Providing design guidance and reviewing architectural packages and their integration with multidisciplinary systems
- Managing design documentation to ensure delivery against scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements
- Supporting planning and implementation of projects, contributing to technical decision-making and risk management
- Driving quality, safety and compliance through adherence to governance processes and management systems
Essential Experience
- Experience delivering architectural design within complex or highly regulated environments
- Knowledge of major infrastructure or marine-based construction projects
- Understanding of safety, quality and regulatory requirements within defence or high-hazard sectors
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design packages and technical interfaces
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across project teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology – Essential
- Chartered or registered status with a relevant professional body – Desirable

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who can achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
