What you’ll do:
- Apply Manual Metal Arc (MMA) welding to a variety of heavy‑duty marine and structural components.
- Work on submarines, surface ships, dockside infrastructure, and controlled factory environments.
- Operate welding and some fabrication equipment to consistently high standards.
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings from a welding perspective, procedures, and technical specifications.
- Work closely with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams to meet tight safety and performance targets.
What you’ll need:
- Strong capability in MMA/Stick welding on heavy plate, structural steel, or marine‑grade materials.
- Experience working in shipbuilding, ship repair, infrastructure, or large‑scale construction environments.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions.
- Confident use of welding sets, fabrication tools, and general workshop equipment.
- Marine engineering background or experience on Royal Navy or commercial vessels – Desirable.
- Time‑served trade apprenticeship in welding, fabrication, marine, or naval engineering – Desirable.
- Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to welding – Desirable.
- Level 3 Engineering or Modern Apprenticeship – Desirable.
- Level 2 Engineering qualification supported by significant practical experience – Desirable.

Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
