The role:

  • As a Material and Inventory Planner, you will play a vital role in ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to keep complex engineering and defence programmes running smoothly.
  • From analysing demand and optimising stock to managing supply risks, your work directly supports our operational readiness and customer delivery.
  • Day-to-day, you will have an exciting opportunity to develop your career in supply chain planning within a dynamic defence environment, where your decisions make a real-world impact on national infrastructure and security.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing material planning orders and inventory through SAP and ERP systems
  • Analysing demand and aligning inventory levels to meet operational requirements
  • Expediting materials to ensure production and project schedules stay on track
  • Collaborating with project, production, and supply chain teams to enable delivery
  • Identifying and mitigating supply risks through forward planning and continuous improvement

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in inventory planning and stock control techniques
  • Strong analytical thinking and organisational skills
  • Ability to take ownership of issues and drive them through to resolution
  • Understanding of continuous improvement principles
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is advantageous
  • Experience using material planning systems such as MRP or MPS

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 2 NVQ (or equivalent)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
