The role:
- As a Logistics Capability Manager, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to join a team of experienced defence logistics professionals delivering critical warehousing and distribution services that support the Royal Navy’s fleet of warships and submarines.
- Your work will directly contribute to operational readiness and national security while giving you the chance to develop your leadership, strategic planning and operational management expertise within a global engineering organisation.
- Day‑to‑day, you’ll help shape and deliver the long‑term logistics strategy for a complex operational environment.
- Working with delegated authority from the Logistics Leadership team, you'll ensure storage capacity and logistics capabilities are aligned to future business requirements, while leading teams through change and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
- Leading logistics capability and capacity planning activities to support operational and strategic objectives.
- Collaborating with Babcock colleagues and customer stakeholders to deliver key performance targets.
- Analysing operational data and performance metrics to drive informed business decisions.
- Championing continuous improvement initiatives across warehousing and distribution operations.
- Developing, coaching and motivating teams while promoting a positive learning culture and effective change management.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based in Plymouth.
Essential experience:
- Experience in a management role at line manager level or above for a minimum of three years.
- Experience leading teams within a warehousing, logistics, supply chain or distribution environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Experience interpreting operational data to support business decision‑making and performance improvement.
- High level of IT literacy, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications:
- Essential: Demonstrable management and leadership capability within a logistics or operational environment.
- Desirable: Level 4 qualification in Warehouse and Distribution. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) UK.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
