Deliver critical infrastructure that supports national security. As a Construction Manager, you’ll take responsibility for delivering construction activities across key infrastructure programmes, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You’ll play a vital role in managing site operations, coordinating contractors, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety requirements in a highly controlled environment. Day-to-day, you’ll lead the delivery of complex construction projects that directly support defence capability, influencing outcomes, driving safety culture, and developing your leadership within a dynamic and purpose-driven organisation.
Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day construction activities, ensuring safe and effective delivery of site works
- Leading and coordinating contractors and site teams to deliver work packages to plan
- Authoring key construction documents and chairing project and site meetings
- Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across all activities
- Supporting inspections, verification activities and continuous improvement of site operations
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential Experience
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams delivering construction or installation works
- Strong understanding of construction practices, CDM regulations and health and safety legislation
- Experience working in regulated or safety-critical environments, ideally within defence or nuclear sectors
- Proven ability to manage contractors, contracts, and daily site operations
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working across integrated teams
Qualifications
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme Manager Card (Black card)
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme qualification
- Temporary works or lifting qualifications - Desirable
- NVQ Level 6 or 7 in Construction Management - Desirable

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
