The role:
- As an Aircraft Mechanical Technician, you’ll carry out depth maintenance and component work that keeps military aircraft safe, airworthy and available for training directly contributing to national security and the development of world‑class aircrew.
- Day‑to‑day, you’ll build hands‑on expertise across inspections, fault diagnosis and rectification, and functional testing growing your career in a high‑integrity, team‑driven environment with an employer known for “lifetime engineering.”
- Diagnose and rectify faults on aircraft systems, components and assemblies.
- Undertake and complete depth maintenance, inspections, repairs and modifications to approved maintenance data.
- Perform functional and system tests to release equipment back to service safely.
- Maintain compliance with Babcock’s maintenance procedures and mandated standards, including tooling and test‑equipment control.
- Collaborate and elevate effectively to keep maintenance on schedule and resolve issues promptly.
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and is based at RAF Valley, Holyhead.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Technician:
- Practical engineering maintenance experience applying technical skills to real equipment.
- Strong teamwork and stakeholder skills with clear, respectful communication.
- Confident using Microsoft tools to update records and reports.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Technician:
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (ideally Aeronautical) or military equivalent.
