The role:

As a Quality Control Inspector – Structural, you’ll support the Quality Manager to achieve project objectives and drive continuous improvement across the T31 project. Day-to-day you’ll be required to:

  • Develop strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Complete inspection reports in a timely manner.
  • Update and communicate inspection metrics in line with daily activities.
  • Carry out Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, or Ultrasonic Inspection of welds and components (where qualified).
  • Conduct product verification audits and quality investigations on board ship.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.

Essential experience:

  • In-depth understanding of Quality Control fundamentals.
  • Ability to assess work carried out by production teams and subcontractors to assure quality and technical standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of Quality Control requirements for naval warship construction and acceptance.
  • Broad knowledge of warship construction and design, with sound judgement to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Measurement Management Systems and ISO10012.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified to a recognized trade standard (Fabrication/Welding/Shipwright/Marine Engineering) and relevant academic level (HNC/SVQ Level 3).
  • CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent (AWS CWI/SCWI, CWB CWI Level 2/SCWI Level 3).
  • Minimum PCN Level 2 in either MT or PT (desirable).
  • Additional NDT or coatings inspection certifications are advantageous.
  • IPAF preferable.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
