The role
As an Avionics Technician, you'll play a vital role in supporting military aviation operations by carrying out detailed maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and repairs on aircraft systems and components. Working within a depth maintenance environment, you'll help ensure aircraft remain safe, compliant and ready to perform critical missions. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your technical expertise in a highly skilled engineering environment while contributing to work that directly supports national defence and security.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on aircraft and aircraft components.
- Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, modifications and functional testing of avionics systems and equipment.
- Ensure maintenance tasks are completed safely, accurately and in line with required schedules and procedures.
- Support compliance activities including tooling control, equipment checks and maintenance documentation.
- Maintain technical competence through on-the-job training and continuous professional development.
This role is based on site at RAF Valley, Anglesey and is 37.5 hours per week.
Essential experience of the Avionics Technician
- Demonstrating engineering knowledge and the ability to apply practical technical skills.
- Contributing to the maintenance, operation, manufacture or development of engineering systems, equipment or services.
- Taking personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high‑quality work.
- Using computer systems confidently within an engineering or technical environment.
- Building effective relationships and engaging with a range of stakeholders.
Qualifications for the Avionics Technician
- Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering, or a military equivalent apprenticeship/qualification.
- Minimum City & Guilds 2675 Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or NVQ Level 3 in an aeronautical‑related discipline.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
