The Role

As a Ship Control Instructor, you’ll be at the heart of delivering world‑class training to Royal Navy personnel, helping shape the future of submarine operations. This is a unique opportunity to share your expertise in Astute‑class submarine control systems and make a lasting impact on national defence. You’ll be part of a team that empowers others, enhances operational readiness, and contributes to the safety and security of the UK.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Delivering Astute-class ship control training in a specialised facility
  • Liaising with training design teams to provide subject‑matter expertise
  • Ensuring training meets prescribed standards, quality, and cost targets
  • Reviewing and evaluating technical data and change notifications
  • Supporting students with varying levels of experience

The role is based onsite at HMNB Clyde, and the set working times are 37 hours per week.

Experience required:

  • In-depth knowledge of ship control systems operations
  • Experience managing submarine control rooms
  • Background in the Royal Navy submarine service
  • Previous training delivery experience (desirable)
  • Recent Astute‑class submarine experience (desirable)

Qualifications:

  • Warrant Officer or Senior Rating within the Royal Navy
  • DTC / DTTT qualification (advantageous)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
