The role

As a Marine Engineering Refrigeration Fitter, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining the reliability, safety and performance of refrigeration systems that support submarines, surface vessels and critical estate infrastructure. Your work will help ensure that the Royal Navy’s capability remains continuously available making this an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to national defence and engineering excellence. You’ll join a skilled team delivering planned preventative maintenance, undertaking inspections, and resolving defects across a wide range of systems. Working in this environment offers growth, challenge and the chance to refine your technical expertise while supporting projects that matter.

Responsibilities

  • Complete planned preventative maintenance and nuclear‑implicated refrigeration work.
  • Identify and resolve faults, defects and alterations to maintain operational capability of submarines, vessels and estate assets.
  • Carry out repairs, inspections and fitting activities on refrigeration systems across site.
  • Work in accordance with all health and safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Suggest improvements to processes and systems to support productivity and operational performance.

You’ll work 36 hours per week, based on site at Faslane.

Essential experience

  • Refrigeration experience within a shipbuilding or commercial engineering environment.

Qualifications

  • N/SVQ Level 3 – Engineering Maintenance (Mechanical) or equivalent.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
