The role
As a Mechanical Trade Supervisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of delivering critical maintenance and engineering projects that keep the Royal Navy’s fleet operational. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll guide skilled teams, manage complex work packages, and ensure projects meet time, cost, safety, and quality standards. Your work will directly contribute to national security and give you the opportunity to develop your career in one of the most dynamic and rewarding sectors - defence and engineering.
Day‑to‑day you’ll be required to:
- Lead and direct a team of industrial personnel to deliver project objectives.
- Work with the planning team to define and schedule tasks, removing conflicts.
- Ensure all documentation is reviewed and ready throughout each work package.
- Manage subcontractors when required to complete work packages.
- Create and manage demand profiles for internal resources and external contractors.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based at site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Trade Supervisor
- Proven engineering supervisory experience.
- Strong background in mechanical engineering systems and equipment.
- Experience in maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and replacement of mechanical systems.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic engineering environment.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Trade Supervisor
- HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent trade experience.
- ILM Level 3 (desirable but not essential).
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
