The role
As a Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll be part of a highly skilled team supporting the maintenance and readiness of military and civilian vehicles used by our defence customers. From diagnostics to repairs, your expertise will ensure our fleet operates safely and efficiently, making a direct impact on national defence and operational success. This is a hands‑on, rewarding role where you’ll work with a variety of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Day‑to‑day you’ll be:
- Servicing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying military and civilian vehicles
- Working to technical specifications and safety standards
- Collaborating with your team to ensure operational readiness
- Diagnosing faults and inspecting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Carrying out equipment examinations to meet production requirements
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role. Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time. The role is based onsite at Ashchurch, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week. A relocation package may be available, subject to eligibility.
Essential experience of the Vehicle Mechanic:
- Experience working in a dealership or local garage
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in hydraulics
- Strong team player with adaptability and rapport‑building skills
Qualifications for the Vehicle Mechanic:
- NVQ Level 3 in Service and Repair or equivalent qualification
- Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
