The role
As a Head of Nuclear Operations, you’ll lead the delivery of critical operations within the Submarine Dismantling Programme, taking ownership of safe, compliant, and efficient execution to ensure projects are delivered on time, within cost, and with quality expectations.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll be required to:
- Lead production and operations teams to deliver nuclear dismantling activities safely and efficiently
- Drive a proactive safety‑first culture, ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and nuclear regulations
- Manage the execution of submarine dismantling and maintenance of laid‑up vessels
- Oversee operational performance, ensuring delivery against programme milestones, budgets, and quality standards
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to continuously improve operational processes
This role is full time, 37 hours per week, based at Rosyth and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience
- Demonstrable experience in operational or production leadership within complex engineering or regulated environments
- Strong understanding of nuclear safety, radiological protection, and nuclear management systems
- Experience delivering large‑scale engineering or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of project controls, budgeting, and commercial frameworks
- Familiarity with high‑hazard environments such as defence, marine, or nuclear sectors
Qualifications
- HNC, degree, or equivalent experience in an engineering or related discipline
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many roles within the company are subject to national security clearance and trade control restrictions. Eligibility may be affected by place of birth, nationality, citizenship, and residency.
