What you’ll do:

  • Perform structural repairs to steel hulls and decks using burning and grinding techniques
  • Fabricate and assemble plate and steelwork using specialist tools and equipment
  • Translate engineering documents into fabrication plans
  • Cutting, shaping and assembling steel plates and components
  • Installing and joining plate, steel and structural materials

The successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role. There is an opportunity for Optimised Working Patterns (OWP) within this role. Whilst OWP is not guaranteed; it involves a 4‑week shift cycle consisting of either day/back shift or day/night shift. What you’ll need:

  • Proven experience in structural steel repair and fabrication
  • Skilled in using fabrication tools and workshop machinery
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience in marine engineering or similar sectors (e.g. Royal Navy, RFA, commercial shipbuilding)
  • Strong understanding of safety and quality standards in heavy engineering environments
  • Indentured Apprenticeship or Level 2 qualification in fabrication, structural steel, or sheet metal work (Essential)

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
