The role
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of a dynamic and growing team within Devonport Engineering. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of engineering projects that support both nuclear and non-nuclear assets. Day-to-day, you’ll lead the technical delivery of complex design solutions, ensuring safety, quality, and innovation are at the forefront of everything we do.
- Scoping and managing the technical delivery of engineering projects across their lifecycle
- Supporting the Design Management Group in delivering safety-critical solutions on time and within budget
- Leading internal and external resources to meet project demands
- Ensuring design outputs meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Applying structured design processes tailored to both conventional and nuclear facilities
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Engineering Manager
- Strong technical background with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated expertise in Civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure
- Proven experience across the design lifecycle with a logical approach to problem‑solving
- Understanding of safety‑critical design and substantiation, ideally within regulated industries
Qualifications for the Engineering Manager
- Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent experience
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards it)
- Membership of a relevant professional institution

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
