About the role
At Babcock, you’ll support critical defence infrastructure by maintaining and operating electrical systems and specialist equipment. The role is hands‑on and contributes to operational readiness and national security.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
- Complete defect diagnosis, repairs and fault‑finding to maintain operational performance
- Operate EHJ systems and equipment in line with approved procedures
- Support facility control room watch‑keeping and associated operational duties
- Follow safe systems of work and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and safety
This is a full‑time role based on site at HMNB Clyde, typically working 37 hours per week.
Essential Experience
- Experience working with electrical systems and industrial equipment maintenance
- Interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Applying safe systems of work, including risk assessments and COSHH processes
- Understanding maintenance procedures and documentation
- Operating within highly regulated or safety‑critical environments
Qualifications
- Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent (essential)
- Asbestos Awareness, Confined Spaces, Working at Height (preferred)
- Emergency First Aid certification (preferred)
- Relevant skilled person status or technical training (advantageous)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a UK national able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance.
