Due to the continued growth and expansion of our Nuclear Team, we are looking to enhance our technical capabilities and are seeking an experienced Safety Case Expert to join our team. This role offers the chance to participate in multi-disciplinary projects at various stages of the lifecycle, from client consultancy to comprehensive turn‑key solutions.

You will lead the continued development of a strong team and be the first point of direct contact with clients, partners, and contractors. You will oversee key projects from concept to delivery including design, procurement, subcontracting, factory acceptance, installation, site acceptance and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Nuclear safety case expert who will support management across the nuclear portfolio in AECOM (Civil and Defence).
  • Supports development of the strategy for growing the nuclear safety case capability in AECOM.
  • Supports development of resource strategies, recruitment plans and maintaining resource competence (SQEP).
  • Supports management of the nuclear safety case team including deputising for the Discipline Lead.
  • Acts as subject‑matter expert with respect to winning work, supporting the bidding process with respect to nuclear safety.
  • Responsible for strategic safety case delivery on projects.
  • Develops relationships with clients to deliver a 'right first time' approach for technical delivery.
  • Advises leadership and clients on regulatory compliance, standards and guidance.
  • Supports AECOM and client organisations in interactions with regulators and safety committees.
  • Applies knowledge to resolve crucial issues and unique conditions to move projects forward.
  • Provides mentoring and coaching for the nuclear safety case team.
  • Manages development and delivery of nuclear safety training to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements and recommends changes in approach and best practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Extensive experience developing nuclear safety cases in the nuclear sector.
  • Leadership: Exceptional leadership qualities with the ability to provide strategic advice and influence engineers.
  • Project Delivery: Track record of successful project delivery, including overseeing the full project cycle end‑to‑end.
  • Communication: Competence in preparing and delivering technical presentations and peer reviews.
  • Desired Qualifications: MEng/BEng in Science or Engineering or equivalent; Chartered Engineer or working towards.
  • Self‑motivated, able to work autonomously, strong commitment and willingness to learn.
