The role

As our Head of Business Development – Collective Training, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping and driving growth across Babcock’s collective training portfolio. This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of training capability across live, virtual, and constructive environments, supporting multi‑domain operational readiness for defence customers in the UK and internationally. You’ll be joining a purpose‑driven organisation committed to long‑term national security, and your work will have a meaningful impact on the future capability of the armed forces. You’ll collaborate across Group, Sector and Business Unit teams, bringing solutions together to create coherent, customer‑centric, outcome‑focused training propositions. This role offers exceptional visibility, strategic influence, and a platform for your professional development in defence, aerospace, and engineering—industries known for their innovation, complexity, and national importance.

Day-to-day, you’ll:

  • Lead the development and management of the business pipeline for collective training solutions.
  • Shape, articulate and deliver integrated, customer‑tailored propositions across live, virtual and constructive environments.
  • Bring together capabilities from across Babcock to create cohesive, outcome‑based solutions.
  • Collaborate with business winning, technical and delivery teams to design competitive and deliverable bids.
  • Support mobilisation activity and de‑risk delivery before solutions move into business‑as‑usual teams.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.

Essential experience:

  • Experience in land‑component live and synthetic collective training design and delivery.
  • Experience of integrating simulation systems for synthetic collective training.
  • Leadership experience in large, complex organisations, ideally operating within a matrix structure.
  • Experience creating relationships and influencing senior UK and international defence and government stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of driving high‑value business development and growth.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
