The role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Mechanical Engineer role sits within our Cavendish Nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants. Our role in Cavendish Nuclear is to clean up the nuclear legacy and create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply and meeting our net zero commitments. Our highly skilled team tackles major defence, decommissioning, new build and nuclear generation projects and has won over 78% of its latest tenders. Together, we’re innovating to make nuclear safer, faster and cost-effective across the nuclear energy life cycle. We’re also bringing the UK closer to Net Zero, through our work with Hinkley C, Sizewell C and X Energy.
Day to day you'll:
- Promote effective collaboration across Engineering and other functional teams
- Interface with customers and the supply chain on design issues and support procurement specifications
- Ensure correct application of procedures, codes and standards to technical and engineering activities
- Contribute to product safety assessments and act as a technical interface with stakeholders
- Conduct technical investigations and analysis to resolve problems and improve designs
- Drive process improvements across the operational/design lifecycle to enhance quality and efficiency
This role is full time (37 hours per week) and based at one of our offices in Warrington, Cheshire or Moor Row, Cumbria, with hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer:
Nuclear experience is not a requirement for this role. If you are someone who owns and delivers, who champions high performance and has the courage to challenge the status quo, then we would like to hear from you. We welcome applicants from all engineering backgrounds who are able to demonstrate the following:
- A minimum of HNC (Higher National Certificate) or HND (Higher National Diploma) in Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in CAD tools and a solid understanding of General Engineering Drawing Practice
- The ability to build strong, influential relationships with key stakeholders
Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer:
- Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering
