As an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer (EC&I), you will support safe, compliant, and efficient nuclear operations by delivering high-quality EC&I design outputs, reducing project risks, enabling regulatory approval, and contributing to successful execution of business-critical programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed EC&I designs – develop accurate and compliant electrical, control, and instrument drawings.
  • Collaborate with a team focused on safety-critical and high integrity design solutions.
  • Contribute to projects within the Engineering BU, helping deliver programmes across operations and decommissioning.
  • Communicate with internal teams (e.g. engineers, project managers) and external stakeholders (e.g. clients, regulators, suppliers) to ensure design alignment.
  • Produce designs that meet nuclear safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality procedures.

This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week. The role can be based at one of Cavendish Nuclear’s key locations including Warrington (Cheshire), Leicester (Leicestershire), Humberside (East Yorkshire), Cumbria (Westlakes), Preston (Lancashire), Newbury (Berkshire) or Bristol. Hybrid working patterns are available, with an expectation of three days per week on site.

Essential Experience:

  • Understanding of IEC-61508 and IEC-61511 standards.
  • Familiar with the nuclear functional safety lifecycle SIL determination and verification.
  • Experience working with the safety case team.

Qualifications:

  • HNC qualification or equivalent.
  • BTEC Level 3 in Engineering Discipline or equivalent with relevant experience would also be considered.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
