The Experis Academy has an exciting and unique opportunity for a delivery-oriented individual to be trained and upskilled to become a highly skilled Estimator working for Cavendish Nuclear. This is a great opportunity to join Experis’ ever growing Academy division where you will be trained and developed whilst representing Experis. We are looking for an ambitious candidate that possesses strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. If you are looking to reskill or have a desire to develop your skills in estimating, then this could be the opportunity for you. This is a challenging but rewarding role that will require outstanding customer facing and team working skills. You will be given the opportunity to work within a delivery environment, supporting estimation activities for projects/programmes. It will also enable you to collaborate with likeminded individuals to help solve complex problems within the nuclear and infrastructure space.

As part of the programme, you will be provided with the necessary tools, experience, and training to help develop your skills within project, programme and portfolio management (P3M). You will receive best in class training within project management, planning and controls, Primavera, and Excel. Courses will also cover soft skills such as negotiation, presentation, emotional intelligence and conflict resolution. The training is centered around scenario-based learning, where you will be involved in practical application workshops.

The Estimating team is responsible for calculating how much it will cost to provide the client with products or work. The estimators will be involved during the tender process when submitting a bid and through the lifecycle of the project to estimate the cost of change. The estimator will compile estimates in line with best practice by assessing the materials, labour and equipment that will be required, including the capture of costs for subcontracts, services and materials obtained from subcontractors and suppliers by the supply chain team. The Estimating team produce estimates based on various information sources including bills of quantities, schedules, drawings, specifications and other tender documents provided by the client.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Deliver estimates using the most appropriate estimating methodology as directed
  • Work in accordance with the estimating plan
  • Deliver estimate in line with the estimating structure (e.g., Work Breakdown Structure)
  • Adjust future estimates and norms based on project LFE and feedback as directed
  • Develop baseline bottom-up and top-down estimates to meet project control, forecasting and finance requirements
  • Produce independent cost and schedule estimates in support of programme, inclusive of analysis of data and writing of reports
  • Produce estimates using appropriate estimating techniques
  • Select appropriate estimating approach and methods, documenting and maintaining the basis of estimate (BoE)
  • Assess and manage risk and opportunity and support negotiations as part of the pricing process
  • Review scope and tender documents and develop and collate submission requirements in a timely way, ensuring all financial information is identified and provided so accurate compliant proposals are submitted
  • Produce “what if” scenarios as required
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and Project Control guidelines

  • Previous experience working in a delivery environment within engineering, project or construction management or any other related field that is delivery focussed and output driven
