Lead The Future Of Major Nuclear Programmes At Cavendish Nuclear, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. You can play your part as a Senior Project Manager at our Bristol Technology Centre, near Bristol.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead and shape a complex, long-term nuclear programme at an early and influential stage of its lifecycle. The role is a high‑impact leadership position in the defence business unit stream, where you will set strategic direction, oversee project governance, and guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, sustainable, and cost‑effective outcomes. The role is based at Bristol Technology Centre, working 37 hours per week. Hybrid working patterns are available, with regular collaboration across internal teams, partners, and customers.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities:
- Leading large‑scale nuclear projects and programmes, ensuring delivery against cost, schedule, quality, and safety objectives
- Managing and developing high‑performing project teams, including project managers, engineers, and graduates
- Driving robust governance, assurance, and reporting in line with internal and customer expectations
- Engaging confidently with senior stakeholders, clients, and joint venture partners across multiple organisations
- Shaping programme strategy through lifecycle planning, cost forecasting, and risk management
Essential Experience:
- Delivering complex projects or programmes valued at £10–15 million or above
- Managing projects with multiple stakeholders, including joint ventures and matrix organisations
- Working within regulated or high‑hazard environments, ideally nuclear or defence
- Leading teams with a clear, self‑aware leadership style that drives accountability and performance
- Influencing at senior level with customers and internal decision‑makers
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering, project management, construction management, or a related discipline
- Membership of a recognised project management body, such as the Association for Project Management
- Chartered Project Professional status or working towards chartership is advantageous
