The role involves being a hands-on, practical engineer passionate about developing innovative solutions to complex Integrated Product Support (IPS) challenges. You will be the crucial link between engineering design and operational support, ensuring that systems within the remit of TLES (Through Life Equipment Support) are maintained, reliable, and cost-efficient throughout their lifecycle.
Day-to-day, you’ll capture and analyse system requirements and performance data to drive maintenance, repair, and overhaul strategies. You’ll also:
- Determine, develop, and deliver project IPS strategies, plans, and reports in conjunction with service and project deliverables.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to provide product and system supportability reporting and assurance.
- Evaluate lifecycle costs and recommend solutions that enhance system reliability while minimizing downtime.
- Develop detailed maintenance plans, technical manuals, and training programs that ensure our processes and products meet national, Babcock, and MOD standards.
- Support engineering in producing Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD), and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) information.
This position involves travel across a range of internal and customer sites as a requirement of the role.
Essential experience:
- Experience contributing to bid responses, understanding customer requirements, estimating costs, and providing bid content such as ILS/IPS plans and working to ASD/AIA SX000i.
- Experience in the service support of low-volume, high-value products and systems in a highly regulated environment.
- Knowledge and experience of through-life support standards.
- Experience working with customers in a matrix-managed team.
- Good knowledge of MOD support frameworks and experience applying them as a supplier.
Qualifications:

However, a degree or HND/HNC qualified in electrical or mechanical engineering or relevant experience in the defence industry is desirable.
