The role
As a Problem Manager you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of strengthening the reliability, resilience and performance of Babcock’s digital services. Your work will shape how critical defence, aerospace and engineering programmes operate across the organisation—making this an exciting opportunity to make a real-world impact while growing your career in an environment defined by innovation, purpose and continuous learning.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Analyse incident trends and service data to identify problems and recurring issues.
- Liaise with service desks, infrastructure teams and key stakeholders to support best practice processes, including ITIL and ISO20000.
- Investigate root causes and evaluate potential solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Own the problem management lifecycle, ensuring procedures are followed from identification to resolution.
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented solutions and drive continuous improvement.
This is a full-time position, working 7.5 hours Monday to Thursday, 5 hours Friday, based in Stoke Gifford, Bristol with three days a week onsite. Hybrid working patterns are available.
Essential experience of the Problem Manager:
- Strong analytical skills with experience working across the full system development lifecycle (waterfall, agile etc.).
- Proven background in root cause analysis and structured problem-solving (8D preferred).
- Experience producing clear written reports and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Good understanding of business processes and information management principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
Qualifications for the Problem Manager:
- Degree in IT, project/programme management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- ITIL v4 certified (ideally Practitioner level for Problem Management).

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
