Engineering Project Manager

Location: Stoke Gifford, Bristol + Hybrid Working Arrangements

Compensation: £44,600 - £55,800 dependent upon experience + Benefits

The role

As an Engineering Project Manager, you’ll lead critical engineering projects that ensure the Royal Navy’s submarine platforms remain safe, available, and capable throughout their life extension and commission periods. This is a varied and impactful role where you’ll manage complex engineering data, develop innovative solutions and influence design authority decisions to make maintenance quicker and more efficient.

Day-to-day, you’ll deliver safe, available and capable submarine platforms throughout defined life extension and commission extension periods in support of the overall submarine programme for the Royal Navy.

  • Deliver allocated projects within time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Lead and coordinate department resources within your project scope.
  • Liaise with internal and external engineering teams to achieve project outcomes.
  • Apply and develop engineering management arrangements.
  • Review outputs and present findings to customers.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Engineering Project Manager

  • Previous Defence/Submarine experience is not a requirement.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering systems and in-service support.
  • Proven success in developing and applying engineering management arrangements.
  • Experience managing engineering outputs and technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills across all stakeholder levels.
  • Excellent time management and proactive approach to meeting deadlines.

Qualifications for the Engineering Project Manager

  • Degree in engineering or technology, or equivalent technical qualification (HND/HNC, vocational engineering qualification, or relevant apprenticeship).
  • Project Fundamentals Qualification such as APM, Acoste, or RICS or willing to undertake training provided by Babcock.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
