Morson Edge currently have excellent opportunities for experienced TIG-MMA Welders to join our client's existing site team at Hinkley Point C on a permanent basis. You'll become part of the Nuclear New Build MEH Alliance at Hinkley Point C – the UK's largest construction infrastructure project in Somerset. You will join a team striving for excellence and playing a pivotal role in the delivery of complex piping and cabling systems to the nation's first‑ever 3rd Generation nuclear power plant.

You will:

  • Perform welding operations to a radiographic standard – Pipe welding/supports/brackets
  • Conduct equipment inspections
  • Adhere to established welding protocols and safety regulations, including fume control
  • Identify and report potential welding problems for corrective action
  • Ability to identify your own welds for quality control
  • Comply with established quality control procedures and documentation standards

Current Shift Pattern: 11 days on 3 days off (11/3)

Essential: To succeed in these roles, Welders must test and show competence to the following ISO 9606 standards:

  • SWQ-02 Butt weld – 2" carbon steel pipe weld using full TIG (root, fill & cap) in 6G position
  • SWQ-02 Fillet weld – 2" carbon steel pipe to plate using TIG in horizontal position
  • SWQ-04 Butt weld – 2" stainless steel pipe weld using full TIG (root, fill & cap) in 6G position
  • SWQ-04 Fillet weld – 2" pipe to plate using TIG in horizontal position
  • SWQ-70 Box to Plate – structural steel – horizontal position – MMA

Qualifications:

  • Time served welding apprenticeship and/or C&G in Welding
  • Significant welding fabrication experience within a construction/heavy industrial environment (Nuclear site experience would be advantageous but not essential)
  • Must hold a CCNSG Safety Passport at the time of project commencement
  • Ability to pass BPSS vetting
