Where will you be working? You will be joining our M&E team as a Cable Puller working on a section of works on Hinkley Point C. Join a Landmark Energy Project Shaping the UK's Future. Be part of a pioneering initiative to generate reliable, low‑carbon electricity and play a vital role in meeting the UK’s climate change commitments and energy security goals. Located on the scenic north Somerset coast, this is the first nuclear power station built in a generation, featuring the advanced EPR reactor design also used for Sizewell C. With the capacity to power six million homes for the next 60 years—around 7% of the UK’s total energy needs—this project is a cornerstone of the nation’s sustainable energy strategy. Since construction began in 2018, progress has been significant, with major structures such as reactor buildings and domes now in place and core component installation underway. This is more than just an infrastructure project—it’s a catalyst for employment and innovation. Requirements

  • You must be able to obtain an HPC pass to be offered a permanent contract of employment.
  • You must be able to provide a 3‑year Documented History which should include Education/Work/ or any periods of unemployment these are required for the vetting process in line with HPC protocols.
  • The site is located remotely and a bus journey of 45 minutes each way is required to gain access. Subsidiary allowance will be considered for candidates living away from home.

What will you be doing?

  • Cable Installation: Pulling, laying, and routing electrical cables (LV/HV) on ladder rack and trays and conduits.
  • Equipment Operation: Using cable-pulling equipment such as winches, rollers, and mechanical aids to safely install cable.
  • Site Setup: Preparing cable routes, installing following ropes, and setting up cable drums.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering strictly to site safety protocols, such as using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), following Method Statements, and conducting safety checks in confined spaces or at height.
  • Collaboration: Working under the direction of site managers, electricians, or team leaders to meet project deadlines.
  • Cable Management: Securing cables, leaving coils for connection, and ensuring proper handling and protection.

What you’ll bring

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy manual labour, lift heavy cables, and work in varied environments.
  • Safety Certifications: Requires a valid CCNSG Safety Passport, or equivalent site safety certifications (ECS HS&E Test), one of the following is required, ECS Card for Cable Hands or PQTP demonstrating minimum 12 months experience in Electrotechnical Industry as a Cable Puller or Cable Hand proof of application for JIB ECS Cable Hand card.
  • Technical Aptitude: Understanding of, or experience with, electrical components and site tools.
  • Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., Working at Height, Confined Spaces).
