The role

As a Driver, you’ll play a vital role supporting RAF operations and ensuring personnel, equipment and vehicles are exactly where they need to be. Working as part of a small but highly effective Transport Services team, you’ll operate a wide range of vehicles — from cars and minibuses to coaches and LGVs — while contributing to the smooth, safe running of daily activity on site. It’s a role where you’ll build specialist skills, develop professionally, and take pride in work that directly supports national defence.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a range of Passenger Carrying Vehicles and Large Goods Vehicles safely and professionally.
  • Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, maintained and clean before and after use.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately, including daily checks and tachograph requirements.
  • Report all vehicle defects promptly and in line with process.
  • Carry out a wide range of transport tasks, including driving senior stakeholders.

This is a full‑time, onsite position at RAF Halton, working an average of 39 hours per week.

Shift Patterns

  • Earlies: 06:00–13:30 (Mon–Fri)
  • Lates: 13:00–20:30 (Mon–Fri)
  • Days: 08:00–17:00 (Mon–Thurs), 08:00–16:00 (Fri)
  • 07:30–16:30 (Mon–Thurs), 07:30–15:30 (Fri)
  • Weekend Duty: One in every 8 weeks (06:30–18:30), with weekday time off provided.

Applicants must live within 1 hour of RAF Halton.

Essential Experience

  • Eligible to obtain a Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence.

Qualifications

  • Valid UK Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence (Category D). (Desirable)
  • Training will be provided to support the successful candidate in gaining a Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
