Why this role matters
Procurement keeps everything running smoothly — from the contracts behind the scenes to the suppliers who make the magic happen. As our Contract Administration Apprentice, you will be right at the centre of it all: learning, doing, organising, supporting, improving, and becoming an essential part of how we work. If you love order, enjoy talking to people, and want to kick-start a career where every day teaches you something new… this is the apprenticeship for you.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll become the team’s go-to support for contracts and purchasing, helping keep everything accurate, timely, and on track. Expect to get involved in:
- Contract & Purchase Order Admin: Creating, updating, and maintaining the documents that keep our procurement world spinning.
- Supplier Quotes & Info Gathering: Requesting quotations, tracking responses, and helping with simple analysis (don’t worry — we’ll show you how!).
- Record Keeping: Keeping procurement and contract systems up to date with the right info at the right time.
- Communication & Coordination: Speaking to suppliers and internal colleagues to keep queries moving and relationships smooth.
- Tracking Key Info & Dates: Making sure important milestones, renewals, and documents don’t slip through the cracks.
- Invoice & Query Support: Helping us resolve invoice issues and supplier questions.
- Data & Reporting Support: Pulling together information, supporting reports, and helping the team prepare for audits.
- Team Organisation: Sorting meeting invites, maintaining files, and giving the team the admin firepower they need.
You’ll get exposure to real procurement activity from day one — with plenty of guidance along the way.
About you
You don’t need procurement experience — just the right attitude. We’re looking for someone who is:
- Organised & eager to learn
- Comfortable with numbers and basic spreadsheets
- Confident communicating with people at all levels
- Detail-focused
- Clear and professional in writing and speaking
- Curious about procurement, contracts, or the commercial world
If that sounds like you, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll need
- GCSE English & Maths (or working towards them)
- A willingness to study and complete an apprenticeship qualification
- To be 18 or older at your start date (May–June)
What you’ll get from us
- A structured apprenticeship programme with study time
- Daily support from experienced procurement pros
- Hands-on involvement in real contracts and supplier interactions
- Skills in commercial admin, data handling, communication, and analysis
- A strong foundation for a future career in procurement or contracts
You’ll finish your apprenticeship with confidence, capability, and a solid understanding of how procurement really works.
The Kind of People We’re Looking For
We’re interested in who you are, not just what’s on your CV. You’re likely to thrive at NTS if you:
- Take ownership of your work and enjoy being trusted to deliver
- Are collaborative, approachable and naturally supportive of others
- Care about doing the right thing, in the right way
- Are curious and motivated to learn, improve and grow
- Communicate openly and act with integrity and respect
- Are comfortable working in a purpose-driven, safety-critical environment
You don’t need to tick every box on day one — we value potential, attitude and alignment with our culture just as much as experience.
Benefits

- Buy / Sell annual leave
- Health shield
- Nuclear Pension scheme
- Hybrid working
