Role Profile: Commercial Manager – Global Contracts & New Business
Why this role exists
As part of our high‑energy, high‑impact Commercial team, you’ll play a key role in helping NTS deliver safe, secure nuclear transport services around the world. You’ll support the Senior Commercial Manager, shape our commercial future, and create clear routes to contract for major new business opportunities—all while managing a portfolio of complex, high‑value international contracts (~£10m per year). Think of it as commercial strategy meets international collaboration, with plenty of autonomy, scope, and the chance to influence how NTS delivers for our customers.
What you’ll be doing
- You’ll take the lead (with minimal supervision!) on a dynamic and varied commercial portfolio, including:
- Delivering commercial excellence
- Managing complex cost‑related and fixed‑price contracts with Japanese and Rest‑of‑World customers—including Kansai and Fugen—worth around £10m p.a.
- Overseeing the Global Acceptance Agreement with the Japanese Utilities and acting as a key interface between ORC, Orano and the JUs.
- Negotiating and agreeing the annual Global Acceptance Business Plan.
- Developing, negotiating, and implementing commercial routes to contract for new business—such as the Fugen programme (~£50m).
- Leading sales and purchasing contract negotiations to ensure all agreements meet or exceed NTS targets.
- Managing the annual planning cycle for Kansai transports and securing shipping capacity.
- Providing sharp, insightful commercial input into capital investment projects (especially transport assets).
